Betty Ann has been in the esthetic industry for over 20 years. For the past 10 years, she has been an educator and consultant with Beauty Depot. For the past 5 years she has worked full time with Beauty Depot as a Senior Educator and Skin Care Director. She has received her Masters in Skin Care from Repêchage in New York, as well as training from Silhouet Tone, one of the leading advanced esthetic equipment companies in the industry. Additionally, she has trained with several cosmeceutical lines including Serene Paramedical Skin Care.

Betty Ann has a passion for education. Her vision is to facilitate growth and transformation. With her unique and considerable ability to nurture, she patiently tries to instil these compassionate thoughts to her students. Betty Ann brings to our industry a deep concern and care for others, she elevates esthetic industry standards from more than just skin care, to people care.....one student at a time.

Meredith Thompson

Meredith Thompson is a CIDESCO-certified esthetician and has been active in various areas of the beauty industry for over 10 years. In addition, Meredith received the designation of Certified Podologist from the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners in 2008, and is an enthusiastic advocate and practitioner of advanced pedicuring and preventative foot care. In 2012, Meredith returned to university, and she graduates from the University of Calgary with a bachelor's degree in Cellular, Microbial, and Molecular biology in 2016. Meredith also enjoys the outdoors and spends time hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains with her husband, Jon.

Cindy Dafoe

Cindy received her cosmetology license in 1986. She worked in a salon for 5 years before taking a break to have 5 wonderful children. Cindy has also worked in a hospice and in office management. She has also ran and maintained a successful hair and esthetic home-based business, called TLC Esthetics.

Cindy's time is dedicated to taking care of her family and working with her clients. She is very passionate about doing what she can to help people and make them feel good about themselves.

She has been a member of the Beauty Depot team since 2009 and began instructing at The Esthetic Institute Training Center in 2012. Her philosopy is simple: "I love helping people, I love learning & I love teaching."

Jacky Tattrie

Jacky has been involved with the hair and beauty industry since 1982. She received her full cosmetology diploma in 1984 and continued to further her education in advanced hair, make-up, skin care and nails over the years.

In addition to working in the beauty industry, Jacky has also assumed the responsibility as a manager in both the beauty industry and other retail businesses. Her retail experience and ability to effectively manage a team is shared with her students. Jacky encourages and coaches her students in business planning, providing an exceptional client service, retailing and employee management. As a manager, it has helped Jacky to successfully work with a variety of people of all ages and backgrounds.

Jacky has been an instructor at The Esthetic Institute since 2014. Her goal is to ensure every student learns in a fun and motivational way. It has been her dream to teach esthetics for years. As she has had many amazing, influential instructors she wants to pass the same experience to each one of her students. Jacky feels “It is very rewarding seeing students learn from myself but even more rewarding what I learn from them.”

Alexandra Thompson

Alexandra Thompson founded her company, Ocean Stone Therapy, www.hotstone.ca, as a resource for instruction and product support based on a demand for a Canadian based company. She has been instructing her Stone Massage courses to various Esthetic and Massage Schools, Colleges, spas and businesses throughout Canada, since 2000. She has an extremely varied educational and professional background. Besides her many years of public speaking and teaching marketing and business sales in front of large audiences throughout North America, her Massage work background includes training in the fields of Massage Therapy, Reflexology and Stone Massage Therapy. Additionally, she is a member of the NHPC, based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Notably, Alexandra has received Canada-wide recognition and certification with several Massage Associations for Continuing Educational Credits namely, the provinces of BC (CMTBC), Alberta (MTA and NHPC), Saskatchewan (MTAS) and Ontario (CMTO) as well as in the United States (AMTA).

Alexandra has been teaching Stone Massage for Beauty Depot, now The Esthetic Institute Training Center since 2001. In 2009, The Esthetic Institute added Alexandra’s four day Swedish Massage course to their curriculum and it has run with great success booking months in advance. With her passion, dedication and approachability, Alexandra excels at helping her students grasp the details and organization required in mastering her unique procedures of Hot and Cold Stone Massage and Swedish Massage.

Tamara Rosas

Tamara has been in the Esthetics and Medical Laser field since 1996. Throughout the years, she has gained a wealth of knowledge in both fields. Tamara worked in Medical Esthetics for 7 years prior to opening her own Esthetic Laser Clinic in Calgary called The Lasers Edge. She has successfully been operating her business for the last 10 years. This experience has given her the opportunity to work closely with her staff.

Tamara has been awarded a certificate of excellence in 2006 for all her advanced laser technology knowledge that she has acquired throughout the years. She attained this by keeping her knowledge current with the latest technology and techniques by attending international and local training seminars.

Tamara is extremely excited to be able to train and pass all her knowledge to her students. She strongly believes knowledge is power! With this power you can achieve ultimate results for your clients with passion, integrity, commitment and excellent work ethic that will sum up to success!

Trena Olfert

Award-winning through Wedding Industry Experts and Nominee of both Avenue Magazine Top 40 Under 40 and Alberta Woman Entrepreneurs Award, Trena Olfert of Trenalaine Makeup Artist has several years in the industry educating and empowering women as CEO and professional makeup artist. Trena not only exudes talent and skills but her integrity and serial entrepreneurship brings more than just her brushes to any wedding, private consult, photo shoot ,event and instructing makeup classes.

Trena has been on CTV Morning Live chatting makeup and continues to be featured in several local and international print and online magazines. She also exhibits and handles the runway makeup with her team for both Bridal Expo and Wedding Fair here in Calgary. Proud member of Calgary Bridal Alliance and Calgary Bride and is a BBB Accredited Business.

Trena has partnered with The Esthetic Institute Training Center as their instructor for the Makeup Artistry Program. She redeveloped Level 1 Makeup Artistry and developed Advanced Makeup Artistry, Portfolio & Destination Portfolio Classes as well as Brand Yourself Workshop to help further mentor and educate emerging leaders. She continues to support, offer guidance, mentorship and demonstrates leadership in the Calgary community.

Trena is the former Chair & Founder of Dress for Success Calgary, a non-profit that provides support, styling and clothing to women getting back into the workforce from Nov 2010 to Dec 2014.

Brandi Wilde appreciates and enjoys teaching in Calgary, although loves her home in Cranbrook, B.C. Brandi started working in the spa industry in the spring of 2011, and graduated from The Esthetic Institute Training Center with honors in 2012. She continues to work part-time at a local spa in her area. Brandi has also opened Ataraxia Spa, a home based business, in order to schedule her work life around her family life. Brandi has a sincere love of people and feels esthetics is a wonderful way to pamper and make each person feel good about their self. To Brandi, this is so rewarding to accomplish with each client. She looks forward to teaching and helping students find their way to such a fulfilling career.

Lynsey Owen

Lynsey is the founder of Styles III Body & Soul, established in 2001. After traveling to Atlanta, Georgia in 2003 to obtain her credentials as an Advanced Clinical Skin Care Technician at Insitut' DerMed., Lynsey went from providing a full service spa to focus on her passion of skincare, currently specializing in Body Sugaring and Clinical Facials.

Lynsey became a licensed sugaring technician in 2002, leading her to her other passion of facilitating and presenting, developed from her previous career in social work. This motivated her to be certified as an educator in 2008. She is presently an educator at The Esthetic Institute in Calgary. Lynsey's compassion and love for people accounts for her client loyalty and enthusiastic students.

Krista has been in the Esthetic industry on and off for many years. Prior to attending the Esthetic institute myself, I followed my youngest son to school where I became an educational assistant for 8 yrs. After completing the full Esthetics program at Esthetic institute I started a home based business, then decided to open my own spa "Purely Posh Esthetics" outside of Calgary. Having the opportunity to experience home based and having my own place of business I am back at home where I can make my clients happy as well as being with my family.

Feeling honoured to teach at the Esthetic institute, it has been a dream of mine to be in the Esthetics industry as well as teach. I cannot say enough about my education, and experience I received at the Esthetic institute, and my goal is to make sure each and every student experiences the same in my classes.

Audrey Gutsche

After graduating from a full esthetics and makeup artistry program in 2001, Audrey pursued her career enthusiastically. For 8 years she worked in several high end spas and pursued further education in a number of skin care lines. However in 2009, as a former graphics designer, Audrey decided to return to her first love, the arts. She began to expand her makeup portfolio, focusing on boudoir and beauty photoshoots. When time allowed, she also began experimenting with special effects makeup and body painting. At the same time, she became fascinated with nail art. Within months she had unintentionally gained a whole new clientele who wanted to wear her creations. In 2012, Audrey moved to Calgary and opened a home spa specializing in gel nail art and male waxing. During the Calgary ABA, she was inspired to come to The Esthetics Institute for an LCN “Look, Learn, Experience” workshop by retired LCN Canada Education Director Melody Walker. A year later, Audrey began teaching nail art at The Esthetics Institute and hasn’t looked back.

Giselle Minshull

Giselle has been in the Beauty Industry for 9 years. She left oil and gas when she had her first child for the flexibility but found so much more! She began doing hair extensions and is certified in various types of hair application. A couple of years later she added Eyelash Extensions, Microblading and Permanent Makeup to her services. Giselle has found a passion specifically in the permanent makeup industry! Giving woman and men something that builds their confidence for years makes this job incredible and fulfilling! "Helping others to pursue a career in an amazing industry has been a wonderful addition to my life!"

Ingrid Gibson

Ingrid Gibson has enjoyed being in the esthetic industry for over 15 years. She is the owner of Ingrid’s Laser and Electrolysis Clinic. Since its inception in 2002, Ingrid proudly serves Calgary and surrounding area residents. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, she moved to Calgary in 1982. Ingrid is married with 5 children and 3 grandchildren. Ingrid believes that one of the advantages of owning her own company is that it allows her to have a healthy work/life balance. Since becoming a certified Electrologist, she has continued her education by attending over 30 conferences and seminars throughout Canada and the United States. She truly believes that with wisdom and knowledge comes power, which she shares with her students, clients and other Electrologists to collaboratively ensure the best possible treatment for the best possible outcome. Ingrid’s passion is Electrolysis, and she looks forward to sharing her knowledge with students at The Esthetic Institute so that they will be well prepared and confident as the next generation of successful Electrologists.

Meena Garg

Meena has been part of the esthetic industry in Canada for the last 10 years and she operates her own home based Beauty Salon in NW Calgary. In addition to having previous training in esthetics in India, she upgraded her knowledge in the western methods of esthetics by attending various training courses at the Esthetics Institute. She believes in building personal relationships with her clients, many of which have turned in to long term friendships.

She loves to share the knowledge and experience she has with others and that inspired her to become one of the educators at Esthetics Institute. She teaches Threading at the Institute. She loves to teach students the art with her personal attention, and wants to ensure that her students succeed in practicing threading in their professional work. She truly enjoys being a part of the Esthetic Institute team.

Lyndsey Livingston

Lyndsey Livingston has been in the beauty industry since 2008 and began her career as a Certified Esthetician and Makeup Artist. She quickly fell in love with the industry! Her passion is helping others look and feel their best and in 2011 she graduated from EIE Medispa in Edmonton as a Certified Medical Esthetician.

As her career and knowledge for the industry grew so did her love for helping others, and in 2012 she became an educator. Lyndsey has instructed and assisted in the full Esthetics Program and Medispa Program in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.

Lyndsey runs her own business, Fit Beauty Inc. She has combined her passions and specializes in Makeup Artistry, Microblading and Fitness Coaching. She is honoured to join the team of educators at The Esthetic Institute and looks forward to helping others learn and develop new skills for a lasting career in the beauty industry.

Jamie Van Waes

Jamie graduated in 2009 from The Esthetic Institute (TEI) in their Esthetic program with honours. She has been an Esthetician for 8 years and a Clinical Esthetician for 6 years. She began her career operating a successful, home based spa business for 6 years. In 2015, Jamie joined the team at TEI as one of their Clinical Estheticians at The EI Spa.

She always has had a passion for and been committed to this esthetic and spa industry. "It is a true honour to be able to help others achieve their skin care goals and needs. I truly love helping others."

She has recently added teaching to her list of attributes. Jamie is a part-time Teacher’s Assistant in the CIDESCO full-time diploma program and couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity!

"I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to be able to help students become the best Esthetician that they can be. I also want to ensure the ladies have fun learning, feel confident in their skills and help them love what they do!"

Jamie has always kept up with her knowledge on the latest techniques, trends, and equipment in the industry. She has attended several Silhouet Tone equipment workshops, various advanced skin care workshops, product and technology seminars, as well as safety and sanitization in the workplace.

Jamie also enjoys the outdoors and finding adventures with her family.

Shauna Falkner

Shauna has been in the Esthetic and Nail industry for 25 years. Her love and passion for all things beauty started at a very young age that continued through to her graduating year of high school in 1992. Following that, her passion lead her to become a Certified Nail Technician and she later moved to Edmonton, where she worked doing nails full-time.

After 14 years as a Nail Technician, Shauna became an educator in 2007, teaching in Edmonton through a beauty distributor. Later Shauna had the opportunity to work full-time educating students through an Esthetic program that was offered to students at an education facility in Edmonton through to 2014.

Shauna is dedicated and passionate! Her love for the industry and helping others to achieve their goals is important to her. She is excited to be a part of and working with the fabulous team at The Esthetic Institute. She currently specializes in teaching the Permanent Makeup program at TEI.
